CaB despise Gervais so much - or at least say they do - that there's a big long thread dedicated to his latest effort with not a single poster offering praise. It's intermittently entertaining (the thread, not the show!) www.cookdandbombd.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,78054.0.html ANYWAY...the show premieres on Netflix today and I think I'll be watching it, even tho' I agree with some of what they're saying. Anybody still got a smile and a wave for ol' Ricky G?

Watched the first and it was terrible. At times I was watching through my hands. Old women in homes saying 'cunts' over and over, Gervais getting roped into yoga and walking out after 2 minutes, calling the session guru a cunt?
and this, on top of the usual trite observations about life and death. Don't bother.
Sorry - I seem to be full of bad recommendations today!

I thought season 1 was very, very good. I watched the first episode of season 2 last night. Liked it more than Coan, although his is a fair representation, I guess, with lots left out. Dave/Dr. Spellbinder on Facebook said he's seen the first three and they're good.

This show sounds really unappealing.

I enjoyed the first season way more than I expected to. But I think that's partly because I'm a counsellor and it was interesting to see a depiction of someone dealing with grief.

Just finished season 2. The ending was more optimistic than I thought Gervais would go, but he kinda always pulls back. I would have done it differently, but it's his show, and his ending probably followed the more hopeful thread of the show. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here because one of the big parts of the show is now gone.
