I love this song! I've posted the original and two great covers. What's your favourite?

The Evs! it's so great. I keep meaning to dig deeper with them.
The Eyes version would come second. The Who are as inept as ever.

It is The Everly's of course, but I do really like The Eyes version. They deliver a stronger lead vocal than Daltrey and they really nail the chorus.

for once I'm not going to be remotely contrary - my love of D&P is, or should be, well-known here and there by now. Not a favourite in their canon, as it happens, but of the several hundred songs they recorded, I know of no absolute clunkers. Which is more than you can say of many acts.

I like the Who's version - they own it in their own particular way, but there's no way to top the Everly's.

The Evs! it's so great. I keep meaning to dig deeper with them. If you do, I suggest starting with the Roots album, not a comp of their greatest hits. While you may discover some gems beyond Cathy's Clown, Roots is a better unified expression. In my opinion.

Thanks. It's been recommended to me before.
I dunno, I wish listening to music was still about going shopping for it. These days, someone recommends something, you immediately find it on youtube, listen to ten seconds, then get back to your telly or your belly.

Wait for hagiography IX then, for a less emetic experience

Surely they deserve three minutes of your time. Absolutely glorious, that one. I think it was either yourself or Baron who brought it up a few years ago on BCB. I think it's my favourite Everlys.

Most of that was written by The Hollies. I can't think of another example where a band wrote an album for another artist like that.
