Ah well, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I find those songs pretty average.

I have been thinking of dragging my McCartney statue from the back garden to nearer to the trash bins, and if someone took it I'd be okay with it.

Difficult to think of a truly overrated artist. Most of the time the word is thrown around by people who think 'I don't like him/her' doesn't say enough.
Who can you think of who's commanded great respect through the ages but in fact hasn't achieved a great deal?

Led zeppelin, i just don't get it. I wouldn't turn off the radio if they were on it, but still, meh.

Most of the time the word is thrown around by people who think 'I don't like him/her' doesn't say enough. Maybe people don't like the work of the people they're suggesting as being over-rated because it isn't that good and you're not giving them credit for recognising the praise and the undeserving work. Who can you think of who's commanded great respect through the ages but in fact hasn't achieved a great deal? It isn't just 'great' respect though, people can be rated 'pretty good' and yet be piss-poor. Me I'd say Oasis were widely lauded yet were just very derivative, swaggery tosspots. No, I don't like them but I also don't rate them. Amy Winehouse did write a few good songs but her style was too straight-copied, full-on retro and not original enough, and a lot of her songs were not that great. Some of her stuff I like but most I don't rate. Neither, in my opinion, deserved anywhere near the praise I saw. I'm sure there are many more. Clapton - technically great. Fuck-all soul. Ach .. that's enough.

I would pay good money to see each and every act mentioned in an "Overrated Cunt-Fest" provided proper social distancing guidelines are observed.

James Taylor. He's okay, but I don't think he's all that.

James Taylor is, if anything, underrated. I admit some of 'wimp' accusations are well-earned, and if I never hear another Motown cover by him it would make it very happy, but there is almost no mention of what a great singer and guitarist he is.
My choices are almost all 80s and 90s 'alternative' folks. We can start with REM (though I like some of their stuff a lot).

You and Matt Wilson. Great guitarist. His voice annoys me. The wimp accusations are well founded.

I generally go for musicians who know they don't need talent or artistry to be heard. Oasis is an easy target here but they were just the loudest of the bunch for a period, and they did have some good hooks in their first couple of years. I'd place more guilt against the likes of Belle and Seb and the Beautiful South, but they hit a market and fan base, so good for them.
Winehouse was vaguely "derivative" but of a time and style which was way out of young people's view at the time. Who was listening to Sarah Vaughan in the 00s? So she still feels like a outlier, to me.
