man, I wish I could find this great op/ed I read by a self-described millennial a while back. The point of the piece was "please stop blaming us for things you don't like about people in their twenties". He or she went on to point out their actual age and responsibilities.
the piece stuck with me because my wife and her friends are always scapegoating "millennials" when what they really mean is the lazy youngsters they currently work with.

The study from above is pretty in-depth and much of thee findings hinge on education, class, race and millennials marrying later and being in flux as they maneuver through jobs, schooling, lifestyle/gender issues, etc., Some of it is the uncertainty of the times, and the choices available (that weren't available/identified in the past).
