A thread for the things you spot where segments are similar. And for others to comment on.
First, I was watching something when a song came on in the background, made me think of Little Feat's 'Rock n Roll Doctor' (1974) but it was the Stones' 'Can't you hear me knocking' (1971). So we're talking intro. I'm sure there are lots of other very similar intros, but what do you think and do you have any of your own examples?

Yeah, that's classic one, I think the Stones is D > C, whilst the Feat one is roughly E > D, both are double stop heavy, which is rock and roll elemental all the way to Chuck Berry, T- Bone Walker and beyond.
I guess, a famous one is Deep Purple lifting the main rift of It's a Beautiful Day's "Bombay Calling" for "Child In Time"; and of course Zep is full of them. But what it does show is the musicians were fluid, listening widely and not stuck in their genre. Then...money changes everything once the swapping, borrowing stealing mean real money.
Another one is Bob Seger's co-opting Frankie Miller's "Ain't Got No Money" for his "Fire Down Below", and then covering Frankie's "Ain't Got No Money" as payment on his next (bestselling) album.

I'm terrible at this kind of thing and always makes me feel like I'm not the music fanatic I think I am.
