You may not care for that specific one, but there is some great stuff. It is a powerful tool. One, it disseminates a breadth and depth of info the average person would never accidentally or deliberately read. Two, younger generations are reading less, this meets them where they are, their phones, iPads, etc.,

OK. So you're saying young people are more likely to learn via this than read an article? I can see that.
I just find there's a certain kind of format to these things that annoys me.

I've seen some good ones. Colonel Frank Tuplin has some great lectures on how to fight animals.

Haha that's excellent.
I used to start conversations at afterparties where we'd all be utterly trashed with "what's the biggest animal you reckon you could have in a fight"

I'm 50/50 on them personally.
There's part of me that is with John - you see some cunt wandering around a stage with one of those stupid microphones that makes them look like they've got a massive wart on their face, and they're here to tell you that YOUR WHOLE LIFE IS WRONG AND THIS IS HOW WE'RE GOING TO MAKE IT RIGHT. Solutions. Rationality. TEC Bro SALVATION X PROFIT X ACRONYM X
And then there are talks that are thought-provoking and interesting.

I'm half and half too. Some are superficial BS that some author or "expert" is promoting a point of view and some are interesting. I put a TED related talk our CEO did on the company YouTube page. I think it's pretty interesting.

I had to show some to Chinese engineering students in Glasgow a couple of years ago. The cries of 'OHHHHHHHH AAAHHHHHHH' whenever some weird tech thing was demonstrated fucked me off so much I had to walk out of the room.

sadly John Coan VS. Steve Jobs can never happen. Steve would probably forget to "hide thumbs from view" and it would be all over.

sadly John Coan VS. Steve Jobs can never happen. One was a perfectionist and helped lead a new generation of tech products with streamlined design. The other doesn't wash his dishes until he has to.
