Less what it means, but more why I was given it.
John is my mom's dad's name. I was called Johan at home growing up. My mom's family was very Swedish and my dad, who was a mutt, adopted her family's customs. My dad never called my mom Joan. It was always Johanna.
My middle name was given to me as a tribute to my dad's only brother, who died in the first days of the Korean War after making it all through WWII as a paratropper in the 101st Airborne.
My last name is just my last name. I've heard very origins. Crook means you lived by the bend in the river or ancestors were shepherds.

Toby is "Good to God"
My surname is Saxon in roots, but has several potential meanings, from "a low quality wood" to "A place of sanctuary and peace" in Old English.

My surname directly derives from Kernewek, apparently meaning 'oak trees around a lake'.
So somewhere in Cornwall there are oak trees around a lake which is the spiritual home of my people.
