Which is/sounds better?
"I fucking love this song"
Or
"I love this fucking song"
Is there a set rule to put the "fucking" before the verb or the subject matter? Which sounds better in general?

There's a small difference in meaning USUALLY, but not so much in that specific example.*'fucking' is just added as an intensifier - for emphasis
*actually it could be a song about fucking, in which case the adjective has a literal meaning

I don't claim to be cool but the fuck variations are among my favorite sentence enhancers. as far as I'm concerned the proper placement depends entirely on which is greater - the love or the song. my bill is in the mail.

Well, I went with the first option.
Not that I've ever been accused of coolness.

You're not known as Fucking John Coan for nothing! That's the least harsh of his nicknames.

Well, I went with the first option. Not that I've ever been accused of coolness. I voted for the second option just to negate your fucking vote.

"I fucking love this song" - Provides emphasis for how much love you have.
"I love this fucking song" - Seems to denigrate the song's value. Almost like a guilty pleasure kind of statement.

The first one. As darknessfish suggests above, it's the right emphasis. Don't know if it's cool or not, it just sounds the right way round.

I agree with all of the above.
Personally, I'd say "I fucking love this song" as I'm the subject of the sentence. If it were more about the song, I'd make it less about me and give more info about this fucking song.
