Riffing off of zoot suit... One of the things "Quadrophenia" does right is to focus on the teenage obsession with fashion. It gets pushed to and over existing limits on "5:15"

The first line of "Caroline, No" highlights how a fashion trend can pull people apart if they run with different crowds. I don't know of many other songs that take that angle.
"Where did your long hair go?/Where is the girl I used to know?"
