Civil War has gotta be A Number One. One of the best TV Shows of all time. Jazz is damned good (except he might have interviewed someone who actually LIKES Free Jazz)
Others I’ve seen are top notch. Haven’t seen National Parks or Prohibition.

Civil War
Vietnam
He should probably do one on Nixon, as he haunts our current times and some of the players are still alive.

yeah, Vietnam was outstanding. I have a kvetch though (like the Free Jazz Gripe) he sure sort of slipped the Gulf of Tonkin resolution under the rug, don't you think? I know it's silly to complain about something that is done so exceedingly well but this was a sore point for me in an otherwise outstanding program.
it's almost like he didn't want to embarrass anybody or something.

I was going to rewatch Civil War, but it's $6.99 to rent one episode.

it's almost like he didn't want to embarrass anybody or something. I think that is the crux of it there, but there were so many lies, and dense untanglings, it covered a lot of ground. You can't bruise those you need for the long haul. They would leave. All the contributions seemed to be adding up to some reconciliation for those that cared. Thought the Civil War and Viet Nam docs were profound enough to be required watching, to be the only things available on all channels and formats for their duration.

Would have to think about it a bit , but I reckon the best, or at least my favourite, that he and his team have done is National Parks.

Reminds me that I have to see more of them.
The Baseball one is absolutely marvelous - introduced me to some great folks like Doris Kearns Goodwin and Gerald Early, in addition to allowing me to spend time learning more about Buck O'Neil. He tells a pretty well-rounded story.
Must confess I've seen no others in their entirety, though I've seen bits and pieces of the jazz one (mostly great, though it's a bit stodgy as far as what's presented as the "important" stuff), the country one (another where I assume it's filtered through his experience, so I presume there are again important omissions, and The Civil War (seems like the best and most suited to his style, at least so far).
