Tomorrow, I have a interview with a chemical company in San Francisco. It's a 45 minute ride on one of the region's light rail system and about a three block walk from there in the financial district of San Francisco. I live close to the station, around a 10-15 minute drive.
There will be a writing test and then three interviews - one with HR, one with the head marketing person, and the other with the supply chain head, whom I expect I'll be supporting. I forwarded the URL of a supply chain site and large brochure I did for my current company that I did a couple years ago.
I took BART, as it's called, for five years to San Francisco in the late '90s. There were a lot less people in the Bay Area back then and I'll be taking it to and from the same stations I did back then. But it's good I'm taking it around commute time so I can see how crowded it's gotten.
Now that I'm older, I'm kinda dreading the commute because my current one is so much easier and I've gotten spoiled.
But my graphic designer and I were having a conversation about some stuff we're currently doing and he asked why my current boss needs to get involved. It's become a higher profile project and my boss always feels the need to insert himself into stuff like that to make himself feel important.
He's a nice guy, but one of the fussiest, pickiest, and most methodical people I've ever worked with - and his copy and graphic judgement are debatable. And a terrible manager. The job is easy, decent paying, and an easy commute, but there's always a point where discomfort overrides the benefits.
I gotta see what is out there.
