I don't want this to turn in to a political/social thread but i'm not holding my breath, but why "Karen"? Why not Sharon or Pauline or whatever?
Is there a male version? "Alright Coan, clam down", "Barry, the dog does have a fucking leash" ,

I feel sorry for Good Eggs named Karen but I worked retail for YEARS. I'm glad they figured out something to call the people who act that way. Like most who have worked retail I've spent HOURS of my LIFE trying to please those people who can't be pleased.
now I can say FUCK YOU, Karen.

I have major reservations about its general use. The arseholery of that woman in the park with the dog trying to claim a black guy was threatening her is fucking appalling behaviour. Having a derogatory term for women who are angry means idiots (of which there are legion) can use it against women who might have genuine reasons for not taking crap. Took us fucking decades to get to the point where we can object to stuff but now there's another way to shut us up.
Don't expect any of (OK most of) you men to think anything other than 'Oh off she goes again', or 'oh that won't happen'. Which is why I usually leave this kind of thing well alone.

Me neither. TBH whenever something hits the zeitgeist with both feet like that it’s always a big turnoff. Anything everybody starts doing at once is bound to feel forced. It’s like when Beastie Boys fans started wearing VW logos as medallions. It seems like overkill. Also, any cool new foo-foo jargon word is bound to be overused and misused, especially nowadays.
I’m perfectly cool with having something gender neutral to call “Karen’s”. I’m sure there’s a suggestion box in the ether and that the zeitgeist will eventually titter & giggle at calling them something else.
There are people who ask to speak to the manager with dripping disdain as a first rather than last resort. I’ve had people try to get me fired simply because I wasn’t able to please them as soon as they asked for something. I’ve had people demand I be reprimanded for looking at them or looking at them improperly. Seriously! Looking!
i think having something to call those people has managed to do something I thought was impossible - it has embarrassed them.

Is there a male version? "Alright Coan, clam down", "Barry, the dog does have a fucking leash" , Before there were Karen’s, there were Chads. Chads are basically your standard fraternity bro.
