Yeah, the novelty's worn off.
Knew it would happen sooner or later.

Oh don't start with this "state of the board" stuff.
Ebbs and flows. It is what it is.

Yeah, it's a moving target. The 80s cup is on at the other place, and that eats up plenty of time. Embrace the quiet, post some ambient tracks.

The board has been open 31 days, there have been 3100 posts on just over 300 threads. For those who are arithmetically challenged, that's 100 posts and ten new threads a day. Doesn't seem like a disaster to me.

I'll never understand why, to the majority of board members (BCB or here), starting a thread is like heavy lifting. Absolutely unfathomable.

Well, sometimes they just sit there. You’ll get 87 views and 3 replies. Why bother?

I don't expect to get much replies these days. Either here or on BCB. For me though it's always been as much as writing down my thoughts as it has been about trying to initiate conversation. Although clearly the latter is nice n all.

I'll never understand why, to the majority of board members (BCB or here), starting a thread is like heavy lifting. Absolutely unfathomable. Some people are proactive, some reactive. I'm in the latter group myself, and while I have a few music thread ideas (groups from Manchester, best singles on factory, and so on), I don't start many threads because my time here is spent checking out all the ones others have started, and because I generally reckon I know what almost everyone here thinks of the records I like – although I raised both eyebrows at you praising a couple of Sonic Youth records in the 1980s thread. I genuinely think that what we (well, I ) need is more responses to threads, rather than loads of new ones with just a couple.

That's a comment on the usefulness of navel-gazing, btw, not the latest instalment of 'Dick Watch'*. *I dunno though.
