To be honest, i believe UP is better than PS too. Never been a massive fan of the latter as an album; it has a handful of great tracks that have inflated its rep and place in history, imo. For a second, I thought you might have been dismissing Pet Sounds out of hand (I do), and referring to Kind of Blue as having an inflated reputation. That nearly floored me. I may be crazy but i'm not insane. It does annoy me slightly when rock lists add the same small number of jazz albums, but that's just the slight tokenism involved rather than the quality of those albums, which are generally beyond reproach. You know the ones.

You know the ones. The annoying thing about it is - it implies that jazz only has a few standout albums. If we really mixed all the genres and found a way to order them, there’d be something along the lines of 10 Miles Davis albums on the list before you ever got to The Stones or Bowie.

Sure, you and i might certainly think that way; but again, that's not really a proper list, right? dayodead or Goaty, people who just dont really like jazz, won't put a bunch of jazz albums ahead of their fave rock albums, and they are absolutely right not to.
