Robin Gibb in 1978, hyping the about-to-be-released Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band movie:
"Kids today don't know the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper. And [for] those who do see our film and hear us doing it, that will be the version they relate to and remember. Unfortunately, the Beatles will be secondary. You see, there is no such thing as the Beatles. They don't exist as a band and never performed Sgt. Pepper live, in any case. When ours comes out, it will be, in effect, as if theirs never existed. When you heard the Beatles do 'Long Tall Sally' or 'Roll Over Beethoven', did you care about Little Richard's or Chuck Berry's version?"

The first movie I ever walked out of -- I knew it would be terrible, so why did I go?

(The interviewer is original SNL writer [and Al Franken writing/performing partner] Tom Davis.)

I found out the other day that my eldest girl bought a vinyl reissue of Nancy & Lee recently, a fab record that i can't remember ever really discussing with her but one that has a couple of my fave tunes ever. Proud dad moment.

Today is the 50th anniversary of the release of my favorite rock album, Raw Power! Doesn't look a day older than 48.

I think he was just miffed that he didn't get the part of Paul's grandfather in A Hard Day's Night.

I'm sure I don't even need to name the song.

I know what song it is, and I love the story, but I question the bit about Kristofferson. He was janitoring during the Blonde On Blonde sessions (which Buttrey also played on) - would he still have been there three years later?

Three years as a janitor/songwriter/helicopter pilot seems...unlikely, at the very least.

I only just learnt that Rod Argent played the piano on "Who Are You".
