Not much, i'm not really a possession type person. If i were to move house tomorrow it would take me an hour to gather my shit. Cleaning up behind is a different story.

A lot of what she's describing seems to be kitsch. There's actually a strong market for it, although it's not what I like to sell.

In the end that is what most of us are leaving behind, even the good stuff...crap.

Tobes eventually will convert us all into conservative Englishmen, bowler hats and all.

For some reason, I was reading an article on planned obsolescence and the authors were talking about tires. According to the authors, tire companies could build much more durable tires, but then repeat sales would diminish by a lot so they purposefully manufacture them with less tread and not as durably.

I was just thinking of this too because I'll be moving this year. When I got divorced, my wife and I had to get rid of lots of useless stuff we'd accumulated. I sold almost all my vinyl and books figuring I could get almost all of it digitally.
Even though I've lived in a fairly small one-bedroom for about five years, the amount of crap I've accumulated has grown from living out of a gym bag at my dad's place when I was taking care of him. I furnished my apartment mostly with his stuff, but it's grown with pretty useless stuff - tchotkes and stuff.
Most humans are hoarders to some degree.

I guess they just got tired of doing it the old way.
Sorry! I shall move away from the computer.

Is that really the post you want to be memorialized with?

I have a lot of crap. Records, books and boardgames. At least my wife sees it that way. She is much more streamlined than me in that regard, apart from cookery books, which I guess have a role of sorts to play.
My father was a hoarder and so am I in reality. There's a ton of shit in the loft that I need to bin this year and be really ruthless about.

I went to high school with Wendy Woloson. Anyway, I don't own a lot of "stuff," but my CD's, records and books are crap.
