Bees
Not bad in a retro-but-wrong way, a bit brassy and upful. Ultimately lacks a little for me.
Eddie
Groovy. I could do without the parping THO and that knocks it down a bit.
Not much in it.

A was vaguely annoying.
However, I was none too keen on B either.

That piano was annoying me, and those fucking TUBS are really pissing me off. Turn the fuckers down, man. It migfht have been good, but I had to take it off after 1.30 because I was tired of that cunt kicking me in the head. Not nice. 3/10
I was non-plussed when I first listened to this, so I checked it out on youtube and found it's an early demo, which is why it's got lines lifted from C'mon Everybody in it, and the tune and the rhythm aren't fully formed - just the chorus. Sure the released studio version would have done better, but pretty much everyone here except DF is familiar with that already. I personally have heard it a hundred times or more - I sold my demo version of it recently for sixty quid or so – and was interested to hear this, even if it isn't finished. A sketch by an artist of his stature - as a writer as well as guitarist - is art itself. And I never heard sax on an EC record before, would like to find out more 5/10
B At least I could finish it

I particularly love the piano and the drums in A, Ray, horses for courses and all that. the wonderfully named Persephone's Bees are my favourite track from round 1 - by far!!!
B is like Summertime Blues' ugly little brother, it has the same genes, but somehow didn't really work out as well.

I really didn't like A. Pastiche rubbish.
Eddie was one of my first musical loves, via Showaddywaddy and Darts. This track is ok. Nothing spectacular, but enough to win this tie.

I like this match too! EC is a true R&R star, a great singer, writer and guitarist. Not used to the sax in this tune...oh well, it's still great to hear Eddie. I'm not a massive fan of PB, but this is one i really like, fun and groovy. Not heard them in a while, so for old time's sake i'm going with a.

Loki really liked this album, a fine record with a mix of rock, pop and groove and a distictive singer.
