the linde track is frustrating in that it promises much but never truly delivers. just when you think it's going to get transcendent it turns into an uninspiring chord change.
B reminds me of nesmith. it keeps a good pace without wowing, but i did enjoy it.

A is interesting. It goes from a verse right into the chorus which made me look how long it was. I enjoy succinctness in a pop song, but it makes me think he wasn't imaginative enough to stretch this out. But it was decent.
B had a plan and stuck to it, which made me appreciate it more.

Ah, now we're talking! Finally a match I have to actually think about for more than a minute!
Always liked both these artists, and admire the Linde for getting in and out quickly. Ultimately have to agree with 'skope here - the opposite of my usual issue with modern tracks that get to the point quickly then beat it into the ground, this one never quite gets to the point, and ducks out just when you think it's going to.
B is really interesting - it's almost David Ackles-like, and it keeps going with just enough variation to hold my attention. Plus you get a prime Leon Russell vocal from before some of the grit got smoothed over.
As a side note, I knew the song right off, but not this version. Any idea who covered it? Or is this an alternate take? Did Leon cover it later solo? Or does it just sound a lot like something else?

A, I suppose
B's like one of those 60s novelty things, 'So You Want To Be A Bird' or something. Fun but not really anything I'd seek out.

Hey, this is a top match to finish the round, good enough to listen to both picks twice.
A just edges it, with apologies to B.

Two interesting choices.
I enjoyed the country rock of A with its full on late 60s arrangement. Maybe it's not the strongest song in the world, but it had a conviction and warmth I enjoyed. B is a little more experimental and reminded me quite a bit of Van Dyke Parks. Wasn't over keen on the chorus though and overall A is a bit more my thing.

The instrumentation of B is somewhat annoying, but for some reason A makes me think of annoyingly boring middle-class white girls with perfect smiles and hair, laughing while dancing in their chunky sweaters and infinity scarves. Fuck 'em.

A is very minor sunshine pop to these ears.
But young Leon Russell sounds great! I'm not so sure about the chorus, but the rest is simply amazing.

Never heard of Linde before, there's something of Neil Young about the nasally vocal, but the overall arrangement is a much more soulful and warm thing, even if it does sound partly recorded from inside a tumble drier. Good fun.
B could be good fun, but the arrangement irritates me much more, very 60s psych, which kind of grates against my fundamentals. Throwing the kitchen sink at the song, in the hope that we won't notice it's shit.

Both good picks, though I found B a bit tedious. A, however, is right in my sweet spot.
So A for me.

Linde
Reminiscent of a more fleshed-out take on Jim Sullivan. A very pleasant roller.
Asylum Choir
Also good. A bit too hectic in a Dylan style on the verses.

So dispirited by the comments on match 1 that I decided to do this backwards...
Never heard of him (or indeed the other lot, nor all but half a dozen acts in this round. I don't know when this was made, but it reminded me of the early Seventies, not a good look. Nah, no spark. 3/10
This is more of the same-ish, but I'm not arguing with a member of the Wrecking Crew. 4/10
