i don't really see the point of B. whoever chose this would have been better off choosing springfield, as this version adds nothing to their version.
A is ok. pretty standard garage revival. there's a shedload of bands who do this sort of thing much better.
i'll go with A but without any conviction.

A seems like standard garage as Skope wrote. I think the Guess Who is undervalued and I really liked this song. I don't think I've ever heard it.

How can a song drag being only 2:40 ? Well, Guess Who found a way (?) ..The first track is only interesting in the middle section from 2 minutes to 4:30, while pedestrian otherwise..This is a tough one..Only because I'm trying not to Abstain in this cup, Vote AGuess I'm only an observer this round..My second gem will need to wait a week..

Six minutes? Fuck's sake. As dayodead points out, it gets mildly more interesting in the middle, but the rest of it is by-numbers pointlessness. Fuck knows what the song is about, apart from three minutes too long. 3/10
Oooh, Canada. I've known this song for more than half a century, as I was a fair fan of the Springfield. The Guess Who was a band I didn't bother to listen to in the 60s - they never meant much over here - but this is a competent enough piece of 60s pop with a decent production, so 4.5/10

An imitation of Spaceman 3 imitating the Stooges? For 6 minutes? Just add laconic College Station DJ. It's not bad, but there's more of it than I need. Like a lot more.
B is using a pretty common cup strategy of taking something canon and 'once removing' it, in this case by changing the artist. I would've been fine with the Springfield version against most things, but I understand the reasoning. I've done it myself. And it's not a bad version.

A is like a shambolic Alice Cooper/New York Dolls hybrid..which makes it sound a bit more exciting than it actually is. The song isn't really memorable enough to lift it beyond the very generic. B is very pleasant, if slightly inconsequential. It's probably not a track I'd get deeply into, but it has a superficial charm.

Yeah, it's a decent version of the Springfield song - maybe just a touch faster - but they add fuck-all to it so I'm not going to credit them.
I really like the sound The Go make - thick guitars skronking a la 'Sister Ray', vocals shouted from the bottom of a well, corny spooky voice-over. Bit like a pepped-up Loop but nothing 'standard' about it to these ears. The fact that I'd take this over anything I've heard by Joni Mitchell kind of sums up my musical differences with most folk here. Doesn't matter really THO, does it?

10 years or so of participating in these cups. So many amazing discoveries. Are we running out of overlooked gems?
A is okay but I will probably never seek it out again.

A is pretty underwhelming dated rock bluster, something akin to Oasis if Hawkwind had been their main inspiration. I get the Loop reference JC makes, because of the kind of swirl of guitar, but it really struggles to fill out the 6 minutes. Doesn't really need to exist 30 years after Hawkwind.
Ugh, B sounds like someone riding on the coat-tails of merseybeat, a Billy J Kramer or something. It has a horrible wet/twee arrangement and simpering vocals which are as offensive as anything Cliff Richard recorded.

2 good tunes to start round 2, nice. A has an excellent sound, tough and energetic. Drags on a little but that's fine when i'm enjoying it. B is really good, better than most of the GW songs i remember. A bit poppier and nice harmonies compared the Springfield version, and if it riles up our Fishy it gets my vote!

A is ok, even at six minutes I didn't grow impatient to get to the end. I get what JC says (except the Joni bit).
I'm not that familiar with the Springfield original (not an album I've heard many times) so I can't compare. In any case I enjoyed a lot theharmonies and the general atmosphere of the tune, and definitely it hit more of my pleasure spots than A.

I think A is pretty great, myself. A cool riff, with some sort of pulp sci-fi/horror lyrics and a spacey middle section. I could see it being a bit less interesting with a less confident drummer, perhaps, but they do a good job of playing around the beat just enough to keep me hooked.
I have a feeling I might know who picked B, 'cause there aren't too many Guess Who fans around here, so apologies for not choosing it, but I feel like Burton's vocals are just a bit too fey for this tune, and the sappy arrangement doesn't do it too many favours either.

I don't really care for either very much. I guess I'll go with B, simply because it ended sooner.
