It's a bit of the eating itself. Funny from the outside. It's especially ironic because the African-American woman was one of the leaders on renaming San Francisco schools because of racist actions or writing by the persons the schools were named after and now she got ousted for the very same thing and has largely been unapologetic.

I have seen the future and there is a LOT of unapologetic.

I don't think there's much surprise in some of what he's saying. Words like 'racist' and 'fascist' have/are losing their effectiveness in the US from over usage. Their profound meaning is getting stretched every day in the US, maher was joking about that in his last show, basically sarcastically saying everything is racist these days. At least this juck is an expert and has done the study, so i guess it gives it more credence. I would argue that there is a real concerted effort on the part of a certain segment of people to make sure that the “profound meaning” of those words stay obscured.

THis is from last year or 2 years ago wasn't it? Think his supporters largely ignored this.

THis is from last year or 2 years ago wasn't it? Think his supporters largely ignored this. I don’t think it was ignored. He’s talking about it within the specific frame of online activism. He’s basically saying, spouting off opinions online isn’t real activism - and he’s right for the most part. Very seldom does any of this change anything (though I would argue that the initial wave of #metoo WAS effective activism). As for ‘PC’ or ‘cancel culture’ themselves - it isn’t that he, or you, or Goat Boy, or any of the army of pundits wringing their hands about it don’t have a seed of a good point when you hyperventilate about it going too far. Obviously there are some ridiculous folks in the world doing and saying ridiculous things. But ultimately you are just complaining about free speech, because the ‘’ have every right to express their opinions - even their opinions on your opinions. The stupidity of this being a political issue cannot be overstated. There is no policy that could fix this so-called problem. This is what freedom of speech looks like. Why are you so uncomfortable with it?

it just shows you how aged in oak barrels all this "" horse shit is. we're just hearing it so much now because "culture war" is really all the American Right has any more. everything else is shot.
but... they are winning the language war just like they always do. I hear the word every day now by both teams AND sideliners. mission accomplished.
