Is this what Paul Heaton would sound like without the steroids and anger-management issues? What a wet opening! What a wet track! There is a hint of Bowie there, and even a touch of Anohni about the lower vocal range, but you'd hope in either case it would have been a discarded demo, not the end product.
Even when you lot pick novelty records, you have to go back 50 years. Bloody hell. Why? Christ, this is shit. Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel.
A on the basis of it being newer, and new to me.

B's got a good groove, but Sutch doesn't do it any favours with his middle-school lyrics and "singing", and groove alone isn't satisfying enough for me.
That Cardinal album is fantastic, but I'm not sure if this was the right song to pick from it. It still wins.

Both are ok; A starts pretty and goes a bit long, B starts with a good groove and gets a hit annoying. Probably just B

Cardinal
Really like the first Eric Matthews, this one seems a bit too classicist and ornate.
SLS
His heavy friends doing all of the heavy lifting here.

There's a couple of tracks on the Lord Sutch album that are not total bollocks, and this actually is one of them.
I never heard of Cardinal before (the band name isn't far behind Christmas in terms of "what were the thinking?")
I might be getting old and mellow, but I found the song very pretty, melodious and a real pleasure to listen to. Thanks, A

I liked the delicate harmonies in A and found the tune quite pleasing, although I agree with Ray that those drums towards the end broke part of the charm.
B in comparison feels like a pisspoor pick.

Cardinal 0 : 1 Lord
And it isn’t an easy win as B is very flash indeed. It’s just good enough to win though. B

Well, both were new to me. Doubt I'll ever listen to either again. Certainly not that awful Cardinal track.

Since all my picks were in the spirit of "cannon fodder" I see this as cause for celebration. Me and Lord Sutch will be snorting AJAX off a Stevie Nicks impersonator's backside at our earliest convenience.

a great win snee, despite rayge's uncalled for character assassination of sutch.
harv needs to issue a public apology for selecting the worst track of the cup so far.
