Oh excellent match to start the round. A has so much energy, and B is full of sophistication and emotion. With apologies to A...

I've already discovered several fantastic tracks in this cup, and Ernie's infectious horns-propelled groove is certainly one of them.
Sorry, B

A is insanely catchy! I was hooked after about 45 seconds. B would have won many ties but not this one - unlucky.

Based on Mother-in-Law and A certain Girl, I had EK-D pegged as an R&B novelty singer, and nothing much here to disabuse me of this notion, apart from the occasional falsetto trill, but it's nothing like as good as those two. Limited voice, limited song, it's all right, but I've forgotten it already 4/10
Don't much care for the production or sound on this one, an artist more or less new to me. She should be out front more of what is admittedly a nice arrangement, as that's a decent, proper soul voice, with some tropes reminiscent of the splendid and underpraised Dee Dee Warwick. Yep, Loses a point for recording quality (whether that's down to the studios or the upload I've no idea), but I do like that in a vaguely disinterested, I-seem-to-remember- that-this-was-once-my-thing, way 5.5 / 10

Ernie
A fun blast through the canon. Great energy and jaunt.
Barbara
More mature and considered than Doe. Very pleasant indeed.

I thought this should have been a little closer. Good pick from Sneelock.

Yep, fine pick Snee, wish i could have voted for both of these.
This one was a perfect example of some of the 60s soul Steph liked, a mix of drama and lovely arrangements.
