A is solid rather than mind-blowing, but B...
Suffice to say I wish I was going against it.

Little Mary Staten is killin' it.
B has too much of a novelty factor.
Chalk one up for A.

i enjoyed A. it probably would have got my vote even if it hadn't got a bye in this tie.

Well I kind of liked B. I mean, it's irritating, but I guess - like Tiny Tim - it was designed to be. This chap first released records in 1978, which automatically makes this thing more interesting for me. I wouldn't want to hear it again, mind.
A
is seriously excellent for the first minute, then gets a bit shrill and overexcited. But that first section is one of the best things I've heard so far in this cup - so there's really no competition here.

You know I'm already not impressed by A before even listening to it. Already had more than enough of this kind of thing in the cup for me. On its own grounds, not too bad I guess, but this style just doesn't have much fascination for me.
Who the hell is picking obscure synth stuff here? Where have you been hiding all these years? Blimey, just when you lose faith in humanity. Not exactly a great song, but by Christ a change of pace, era and style is more than welcome. Actually, this is a bit rubbish and silly, is there a reason this was chosen?

Yeah, I'm with DF. I wish this cunt would keep his mouth shut, but it's a welcome change from the obligatory obscure soul stuff.

Wow! I loved A. It might be my favourite pick in the competition so far. I loved its raw concoction of jazz, blues and a proto-funk. Will have to find out more about the artist and the label. Well played sir! B wasn't for me, so I'll leave it there.

What the hell was B? Parents, don't give kids synths/drum machines for birthdays or Xmas.

A is... fine. It's a middling obscure soul record, and while there's a certain charm to it, it's a second rate cut to my ears.
As for B... it's a total oddball pick. I like oddballs.
