A is a brave choice. That grape-stomping beat is a bit annoying but it does have a certain mad charm. B is undeniably a good track, but not a very imaginative one. I dunno… A is probably going to get bashed anyway so

Hey, a personal connection – EC's dad had an affair with my first and second wife when she was a teenager. Oh, this piano arrangement and the song reminds of Agnes Bernelle-type chanson, even Brecht-Weill - nothing to do with British Music Hall, fange, that was more McCartney's bag. I was prepared to hate this, but the six minutes sort of sped by 5.5/10
With a title like that, I expect a bit of dirty R&B, or failing that, unctuousness, but this has a stripped-down shiny piano sound that's right up my avenue - and then a sax comes in - not a great solo, but at least a sax, and then it's over, far too soon. 5.5 /10
I really don't know what to make of this. As far as I'm concerned, it's a tie between two good, but wildly different tracks: rather than abstain, I'll give it to the philanderer's daughter, as she's losing. A

B is nice and short, but ultimately forgettable.
Eliza Carthy is fab when she's in finger-in-the-ear acoustic folk mode, but when she's got a big band behind her, she's tremendous.
Absolutely A

That Eliza’s a bit much innit. Brassy.

Happy to see either of these win. Best pairing & best choices in this round, to me.
I tip my cap.

Cheers Neige for this pick. I have been checking EC output since I heard this and I'm enjoying it a lot.
