I was sorting through some scans I have made from transparencies taken in late 1989, and found several street and river scenes from various wanders round the city, and remembered a thread at the other place where I had put up photos of London, which fell off the Nextdoorland cliff. So I'm starting this thread for pictures of what London looks and feels like to me, but if anyone else wants to chip in with similar, their own pics or other links, and show and tell, feel free (so long as it's about London - other world cities are available, but let's keep separate threads, eh?) All of these randomly from the 1980s St Pauls Ladbroke Grove Liverpool Street Temple New Oxford St Wardour Street

Wonderful. I'd never thought of Ladbroke Grove as looking bucolic before!

No, that runs north from Piccadilly rather than south - this place was near the Circus end of Piccadilly. I'll see if I can find an A to Z.
Edit: Well, none of the street names run a bell, but from the map it was one of Church Place or Eagle Place.

I spent a lot of time courting my wife in Soho Square. We would meet for lunch as both of our offices were equidistant from it. She would buy falafels from a vendor and we'd get to know each other slowly but surely. It isn't London's loveliest square - it's a bit too shaded for my liking - but its location was superb. Now of course, that whole block of buildings on the NE part of the square that comprised the Astoria has gone.
