I like both tracks - and considering their length and slow builds, an appropriate end to the round.
I'm voting for Weyes Blood. I *like* dub, but am rarely blown away by it - and this isn't a track that blew me away. The Weyes Blood album, however, I absolutely love, and this is a great choice.
B.

I feel pretty much the same way as Mike, although I don't know the Weyes Blood album at all. I know it did well in the critics lists last year. I've heard this one before and it's got real power

This round is ending is I'd hoped. On a high note.
I've been hesitant to check out Weyes Blood based on the name alone. Seemed a little too clever for its own good, since I am a fan of the Flannery O'Connor novel. Modern music videos annoy the piss outta me, but aside from that this wasn't bad, though it felt long and slightly overwrought.
The Paul Blackman cut...this is what I have been waiting for. I know deep dub roots shit like this isn't for everyone. I'll be somewhat shocked if I find a better choice posted in the whole competition.
But please go ahead, try to shock me.
That's an A!
Huge shout to the picker.

The production on A is really great - quite admirable. And I know I've been talking up how we need more reggae, but dub's not always my thing, and it's also 11 fucking minutes long, and I'm not high. Maybe if it had ended at the 5 minute mark where it took a pause, I could vote for it in good conscience.
I share wobblie's reservations about the name; it was a turnoff for me too. And I can't quite say I love her either, though I do hear enough personality there to be on the lookout for the old cliché 'future developments.' I've heard other tracks by her I like more, though. And this one could lose a little of its length too and I'd like it more.
Close, but B on balance. Once again, I reserve the right to change my mind if I decide to revisit.

Gotta admit, blazed here.
Also, I love Augustus Pablo. Never heard of this label, or knew he produced the track,etc...
The 11min didn't feel as long as the Weyes Blood track.

Was there a link which had only the A side of the first track ? (This is the A and B)
I can appreciate a bit of frosty, glacial Dub and can also be down with some well orchestrated Chamber Pop..Going with the otherworldly, almost eerie ambiance of WB..Vote B

Dub is not my thing. I could stand through A and even getting mildly interested in the second half, but no will to listen to it twice (in fact I wonder why anybody would)
B was far more interesting, although not sure about the last part. Duly noted to give a try to the album

B didn't really leave any sort of impression on me except that I feel cold and have no memory of it.
A is nice and warm and fuzzy and reminds me that I really do enjoy some dub once in a while.

A is enjoyable as you would expect an Augustus Pablo production to be, but it's a bit generic. There are a lot of dub records like this and it didn't really stand out, although it's still one of the stronger picks this round.
I don't know what the musical term for it is exactly, but I really like records that have that kind of spiralling electronic progression ( there's a John Surman track I've picked a few times in the past that does a similar thing). It always creates a magical, other wordly atmosphere. Liked the arrangement, production and voice, which combined to give a solemn power to the track; the song was just so-so. Would like to hear more from this artist.
