It's a great spacious sound, but it's quite a boring song, isn't it. I mean, I literally just yawned after taking a huge gulp of super-strength black coffee, it's a bit of a comatose classic. Not one for drivetime radio.
Rubbish bit of Jean-Michel-Jarring to kick off the Weyes Blood track, dated 70s synth burbling from a bad Tangerine Dream. It builds up well though, something of Soap & Skin about the multi-tracked melancholy vocals, has a fair bit of the grandiose about it. Wish they'd turn off that fucking synth though, it could've been properly lovely without that, with a slightly better arrangement. I must admit though, I'm much more impressed than I expected to be, and it's all about that powerful vocal for me, she has a real touch of class there, some real control and emotion, quite beautiful. I might actually check more of this one out, a really good pick.
B, easily.

Filthy Capitalist!
Weyes Blood does interest me. I need to listen to some more of her songs. Seemed very much in the same vein as some of that Marissa Nadler stuff, who I haven't listened to in ages.

Just listened to "Wild Time" from Weyes Blood. Much better than the selection here, I thought. She has a really pretty voice. Whatever...
Thanks to the picker for inspiring me to listen.

I don't mind either of these. The dub one is pretty cool. Maybe a bit long. I didn't make it all the way to the end. I mate of mine was talking about WB last year-this track is not what I expected at all. I've just bought the latest Steven Wilson album, which is a bit 'electronica' compared to his other stuff, and this track wouldn't have been out of place on that record.

Was pleased to find this in a collection, as reggae/dub 12 inches always do well. Especially pleased to see this could go for £50 if in NM condition, so I played it, both sides, and was actively (and unusually) impressed, especially by the Augustus Pablo track, Ras Menelik Congo, on the B-side (love that ocarina). Got the £50 within days. I couldn't find a youtube of the B-side, though, unless it was attached to the Paul Blackman A-side, but since that was itself pretty nifty, rather than put in a note saying start at six minutes, I thought I would just put them both on. As I may have mentioned before, I'm not in this to win it, but I'm glad that some like this.
Shockingly, I actually know a bit about Weyes Blood, even though she's a 21st century artist. First came across her as part of Jackie-O Motherfucker, and being a Flannery O'Connor fan, noted the name. Someone promoted one of her early albums on the Refuge, too. This is a tremendous track, lovely voice and an insanely full arrangement and production (reminiscent to how I remember Love Spirals Downwards sounds, or the slow builds of the Japanese Mono.
Two great tracks, restoring some of my faith in music chipped at by the bilge in earlier rounds.
B (sorry Kenny, would have voted for A over almost enything posted in the cups so far)

The 11min didn't feel as long as the Weyes Blood track. My thoughts exactly (and I'm not averse to ethereal female voices at all).
A is as good as dub gets

I pick A because of deep seated childhood traumas that I am not at liberty to discuss.

A is unlucky as B is a very strong pick.

Probably listened to it 10x. When did you sell this?
