An intriguing pairing.
I'm familiar with Arto Lindsay through DNA & the Lounge Lizards (like the latter quite a bit). Haven't heard any of this Ambitious Lovers stuff, or even heard of it. So that is cool.
Damage Manual need a new vocalist, he sounded too polished for what they were going for.
Pretty easy pick for me.

A was sheer hell. I don't want to hear that noise ever again.
That other thing wasn't terrible but there was a bit of a scowly smell about it I didn't like.
Poor show all round.

It's fun reading the reviews while you're listening to a song. Agree with Coan on B. Coming from two different places with music and vocalist. Maybe that's what they're going for. It got better as it went on so gets my pick.
I liked the music of A better, but the vocal was too tortured. There's a fine line with that - it can be tortured like Cobain, but when it tortures the listener, that's bad.

sucker for Georgie Walker guitar and Wobble bass, so the second track is right up my alley..The first features a No-Wave god, so it too is there for me..IF it had been one of Arto's DNA tracks, it might have won...Going with damage..Vote B

Yeah, don't much like either of these. But A is directly confrontational without any real need to be that I can detect, and B at least has Wobble on bass, who makes everything better.

Not much good to grab from A, and it was bordering agression to the listener in some places. Not for me.
But B got me in the mood for its kind of noise, and I disagree that the singing does not fit the track, for me it brings the exact mix thatI always find compelling. A clear win for

I've listened to the Ambitious Lovers track several times and I still can't make out the lyrics.
AHHHH, CAPITAL.... garble, garble, garble... something like that.

I don't really know what A was attempting in all honesty. B sounded like a Killing Joke off cut and was fairly undistinguished, but at least I could get sense of what it was going for.

Jeezus, i wish A was an instrumental; musically it intrigues me, with a mix of old and new things going on that i could see myself enjoying for a little bit, but that guy's yelping was horrendous. Sad. B is ok for what it is, but doesn't really inspire too much.
I need to cleanse my aural cavities, i might be back later.

Arto Lindsay! I've never really followed anything he did after DNA, I think I had something against the very name of The Lounge Lizards, and chose abstinence. This is quite an odd track, that awkward synth-bass with the repetitive shimng, and Al Johnson-esque unintelligible vocals. Really good stuff. Kinda hypnotic, kinda ritualistic, all kinds of different. Yeah, I like this one.
B's a little side-project of Martin Atkins, a kind of semi-permanent Pigface offset, similar to a previous band called Murder Inc, but with Jah Wobble on bass duties at this point. Geordie Walker's unmistakeable, unchangeable guitar style is always a joy, and I really like the kind of clockwork propulsion of the rhythm section here. Chris Connelly was always Ministry's best vocalist I thought, his slightly laconic hoarse vocals add a more human, less stereotypically angry/shouty tone.
Anyway, I'll vote A here, for bringing something odd to the table, not like that cliched list of has-beens doing boring rock from B.

I like both quite a bit. Hey look, I like good songwriting and heart-felt singing as much as the next guy but that is sure the fuck not all that music can do. Sometimes music can give us little snapshots of things like Harry Partch or Eno's "Another Green World". I think both of these tracks do something like that. After a minute or so of each track your envirornment has changed whether you like it or not. Well, I LIKE IT. I think sometimes Atkins tries a little too hard to please his audience but I think he delivers the goods. it's abrasive and hits you like a fresh coat of paint. I far prefer A. I think it's a splendid little snow-globe of a track. I have the advantage of thinking that Arto's singing voice is a thing of beauty -- you know, like Frankie Sinatra.

i agree with G, there's definitely a big killing joke influence on B and some PiL too. it's not great, but most things would beat the execrable A.

I like both, but I vastly prefer A. I have all the time in the world for Arto Lindsay, including this track. The way he combines No Wave sounds with Brazilian and pop influences just really fascinates me..
