Wow, I liked A a lot more than expected. May have to gaze further into the Go-Betweens world - I find most of their stuff pretty ordinary, but this isn't the first time one of them has caught my attention. Good song that I'd probably vote for in most rounds.
But B, canon-adjacent though it might be (though with the caveat that we don't talk about Mayfield enough) is just too brilliant to not vote for. Bad luck, A.

"Demon Days" had a somber atmosphere that suited the grey, wet, winter weather today. Got some Lou Reed vibes.
Although "Choice of Colors" is a popular song, I don't recall ever listening to it. Curtis is doing his thing, laying down some knowledge.

Oh God, I love love LOVE 'Choice of Colors'. Maybe my fave Impressions' track. It's so sweet, so powerful, a real heartbreaker.
The Forster thing strives for a kind of class I suppose but it's fun-free, nothing I'd choose to put on unless everything else had been lost in a fire.
A very easy

I thought A was quietly powerful. Nice, understated melody, thoughtful lyrics and probably something that grows on you the more you play it. B isn't one of my favourite Impressions tracks, but it's Curtis at his most heartfelt and direct.
This match up almost seems unfair, but I have to go B

Yeah, it's too bad. A is quite lovely, but it just cant compare to B's beauty.

Two superb songs, great tie, unlucky for A. I'll vote for it but it's bound to lose.

A's surprisingly good, might've been better as a more austere track without the strings, which kinda undercut it's understatedness. A nice low-key, intimate sounding thing though. Pity there hasn't been more like this in the cup.
Nothing wrong with B, either, other than it's just not really the kind of thing I'm particularly interested in. Doesn't move me the way it moves some of you here.

I like A well enough, but damn, I could never vote against B, which is juuuuuuust enough outside of the canon to stiffle any inner grumbles I might have.

closer than I expected. IMO the arrangement & vocal are very nice on the first one. Actually, neither tune knocks me out ( in the 'get it stuck in your head' scheme of things.) BUT - B just oozes with all that milk of human kindness that Curtis did so damned well.

Ouch, tough match to start.
A doesn't play for me, but i know the song well as it's one of the highlights of The Evangelist album. A gorgeous tune that shines a light on both RF's and Grant's talents and special musical connection. B is of course great, but my heart is with A
