A has spirit. I'm glad they are rocking out.
Alternative TV. It's a cherry.

Listened to both twice...still can't decide. Both are pretty great.
A at the moment for being more surprising. I usually don't like 8-minute stuff with lots of jamming, but this is pretty inspired through the whole thing.
I love ATV, though, and don't hear them often enough. Should remedy that. Why do the good ones always have to go up against each other?

'Theme De Yo-Yo' might have stood a chance, but unfortunately this effort just bores after half a minute (I tried to make it to the end).
'Action Time Vision' is one of my favourite tracks by one of my favourite punk bands and it still sounds terrific - snotty London vocal, stompy drums and lovely GRRRAAAAARR guitars - and it doesn't hang around. One to kick doors in to

B. I'm not fan of either.

Rock out!
The bass line in A and the little drum bit that it syncopates with is a winner to my ears. Fucking cool.
B is good, but not good enough. I keep waiting for a key change that never comes for some reason.

i found A irritatingly pretentious and half-baked. i don't mind the odd drum break, but 8 minutes of it is criminal. maybe if the best parts were condensed into 2 minutes, it might have been more appealing. i've no idea why anyone would want to sit down and put this on their stereo, unless they were a drummer.
B is the complete opposite. short and vital. it really encapsulates the early punk sound and is by far the best punk selection of the cup so far.

There's no real polite way of saying this, but A has to be one of the most boring things I've ever heard. It felt like the "warming up" rehearsal before they get down to playing properly.
B is decent, although I'm not as wowed by it as some on here. You know that when you feel a song at just 2.33 could be a lot shorter, that you're not talking about much of a song. It felt like they came up with a decent chorus but couldn't think of anything to hang it on. But it has a certain 2nd division punk charm.

I picked an Art Ensemble of Chicago track in a BCB cup years ago, and it got an absolute kicking. I'm pretty sure it wasn't this track. I think it has something about it though, I like the space and time they give everything, the rhythm section kick up a proper groove, and those stabs of sax are proper skronk, too. No doubt that it goes on for far longer than it needs to, having said that, by the time the guitar starts clanging, I've almost forgotten the track was still playing.
And it kinda winds me up that the anti-modern crowd keep going on about modern stuff being all production and no song, yet are willing to vote for this, which is neither. It has the sheer pyrotechnical energy of The Tom Robinson Band and the wit, charm and songcraft of Sham 69. In fact, this wouldn't make the cut on a 12CD compilation of Sham 69 demos and rarities, it's such a limp and pointless, lifeless thing. It doesn't even have the excuse of being first wave punk, this lot held back, heard the likes of "Pretty Vacant", "Oh, Bondage, Up Yours!", and thought, lads, we could be part of this, we could learn from those that went before and create something greater. And this is what they came up with. A simple dull chug-along that Status Quo would have been embarassed to put on a b-side. Absolute shocker, they should be held accountable for the damage they did to the environment even allowing this to be pressed onto a side of vinyl.

I like both really in their own way, A has a cool hypnotic groove with good sax, and B is fun and ene4getic. Maybe A for being a bit fresher to my ears.

I like both. I had to put on my thinking cap but I’ll go with A. The other is a good solid track, rocks & is not overly familiar. I think the vocal is a wee bit...ahem.. derivative. Normally that wouldn’t be a deal breaker but it is today.

Not sure what to do with either. There were things happening here and there in A that attempted to get me hooked, but as a whole it bored me to death after two minutes or so. The idea of playingo it again sounds like something they do in Guantanamo. B is short but manages to feel much longer. And I don't want to listen to it again either.
Think I'll abstain
*note to G, wouldn't it be possible to tie one of these to my pick this round?
