you've got to wonder what drives these two posters on.
A has a half decent chorus, but that's about it.
I was ready to write B off, but it does have some interesting twists and turns.

These are both pretty fun songs. That, "Open the window..." part of B detracts from my enjoyment a little though, so I'm going A.

I like Eels, but A is more fun.

I was a big fan of that first Eels album - played the fuck out of it back in 1996, enjoyed his later stuff too but he never again quite managed such a nice collection of songs as that debut. This one is a bit 'filler Beck' - all the right noises and grooves but not really much going on to back it all up.
Rita Lee as far as I know was in Os Mutantes, a fucking amazing Brazilian band, and I'm SO happy to hear she was putting out this kind of lively pop mess later in her career. She's about as cool as it gets.
As much as E turned my head around for a brief while, there's no competition here

Loved Rita Lee in Os Mutantes, but resent somewhat that she seemed to downplay that part of her career once she became a huge commercial pop star (apparently one of the biggest in Brazil for the second half of the 70s). This song is fine - pretty and all, but I miss the weirdness that she brought to the dance earlier - this is pretty ordinary.
Not that excited by B either, but he seems to inspire a lot of rancor in people that's maybe not deserved. He's overambitious, perhaps, and this song is certainly overlong, but it did a touch more than expected, and that's enough here.

Well I’m having a lot of fun this round. I could go either way but I’m feeling A a little more today. I like the Eels track a lot but Rita’s song has lodged inside my brain like goddam Gilbert O’Sullivan or something.

A is fab, one of my fave tracks so far! A heady mix of pop and rock sounds that i will be playing all week, no doubt. B is ok but not gonna match it here.

A's pretty awful, the chip-cheedies in the chorus annoy the piss out of me, and the verses are all a bit Dennis Waterman being replaced for a sophisticated clientele. Ugly piano driven boogie shit.
B's an even uglier song though, that guitar sound is awful. God knows what has been done to those vocals, or why he'd want them quite so high in the mix. It's a proper tin of spam, over-produced and well out of date, making the worst of out of poor quality ingredients.

There was an opportunity for A to get even funkier than it did, the rock elements in the track actually drag it down a bit. But I liked that the chorus was so unashamedly POP! Overall, a spirited, enjoyable track. B kind of felt as if it wanted to be a bit scary and edgy but didn't really have the heart for it. I didn't like the drum sound on this at all. An attempt from an artist to go outside his comfort zone that doesn't work for me.
Quite easily A

Not sure what you guys are on but, man, this is a fuckin' great match for yours truly. And I'm undecided, so I'm gonna listen to both again. Me, I'm no fan of Os Mutantes, always thought they're more a curiosity than a real quality act. So I was surprised to like A a lot, in fact it pushes me to take a dive in Rita Lee's output. Yeah, it's a pretty standard AOR arrangement with a pop sensibility, but all the same quite enjoyable. The Eels track is quite good and I can feel there's a purpose in its disjointed quality, although I'm not sure I'm grasping it. All the same the song is a lot of fun and feels shorter than it is.
Hmmm, still a draw. OK, I'll give it to the lovely face of the girl in B video.

I don't like either very much.
The overly busy drumming in A wrecks what could be a nice groovy tune, as does the rock outro.
B sounds too much like Beck for my liking.
I'll give it to A because there's something in it that reminds me a bit of "Fuzzy Logic"-era Super Furries.
