i was expecting to like the tyde track more than i did. i'm quite a big fan of beachwood sparks but this track left me scratching my head.
A is yet another popper-fueled anthem, which seems to be a theme for this year's cup.
i'm going to sit this one out.
ABSTAIN.

B is alright, I guess. A has got to be a soundtrack to some kind of bank heist scene with roller skates and a supernatural component like trolls or possessed goats. Love Boat era Bernie Kopell has to make some sort of cameo. Those of you with talents in these fields, please make this happen.

A for the same reasons as T. Willy.

The singer in B seems to have mixed Scotch & red wine all night.

Really liked both of these. The smacked-out vocal in B really appealed, and musically it's strong, beautifully produced. I can ever tolerate the Scott 4 homage that is the record cover. Good stuff!
but my vote has to go to
A
which I thought was magical, the epitome of tasteless synthetic musical overload

B is much more "my type of thing," but I'm finding it harder to connect to at the moment.
A is kitschy as hell, and very much "not my thing," but it's resonating at the moment. Maybe 'cause I'm with T.Willy too?
Mind you, I don't think either of them are anything I'd ever choose myself, but I can't deny I enjoyed it in the moment.

I kind of feel I should like A more than I do. There's been quite a lot of rediscovery of this kind of Moroder, proto-house early 80s electronic disco music over the last ten years. This is okay, but I don't feel I'm unearthing a lost classic. Some of those sounds are just too clunky 'early video game' for me which rather stops it from becoming the epic track it's striving to be. But it was okay. B improved when the second vocal came in, but ultimately the melody is just too dreary for me.

Tough match as i enjoyed both of these. A has a huge nostalgia cache for me, those turn-of-the-decade 80s sounds are deep in my musical DNA. And while B started slowly i really liked the way it grew and developed. Tough, but B.

A sounds like the best Cop Show theme ever.

All of a sudden this is the Library Music Cup?
A has an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink thing going on, and was probably a lot of fun to make at the time but hasn't aged terribly well. I have to say I'm actually incredibly disappointed that it just faded out and didn't end with a FUCKING EXPLOSION! What a missed opportunity.
I like B's shambolic feel, but the song itself doesn't really do much for me. And the guy looks like a dick.

A is fanfuckintastic and a huge fun to these old ears. I enjoyed it a lot, to the point that I would have liked it to be twice as long. A song to save.
Fuck me, B is also great! Don't know what to do, I want to vote for both.
A second play shows that both tracks end much better than they start, in fact at the start of both I was thinking I would vote for the other and then changed my mind. Decisions, decisions ...
I'll play the classic vote for the one that goes behind. With apologies to A and thanking both pickers

A starts off really well, the funky bass and drums underpinning everything are marvellous, it's kind of a shame there's all the other stuff going on over the top. 50/50 Cop Show/Regional News Bulletin music. It feels like a real missed opportunity.
B's opening vocal sounds like the lovechild of Billy Idol and a duck. The melody to the chorus really reminds me of something, a Texas song, possibly. It's not too bad for this kind of thing, there is a charm to it. Not the kind of thing you'd choose to listen to, but I'll throw it a bone. Almost reminds me of the Skinny Puppy AOR side-project Hilt.
