I'm not a big fan of singing in Japanese - all that SHAKA HEEEEEEEE OKO OHHH business. Nice enough song otherwise.
I've heard a few Misfits songs and most of them have left me cold. I think the individual responsible for
B
has chosen wisely and I'm voting for something that doesn't sound like someone throwing up

Along with Maher Shalal Hash Baz, Nagisa ni te is a fave of mine from Japan.

Wow, a Misfits song that sounds like Echo & The Bunnymen! Interesting.
Not ultimately compelling, though. And A is pretty awesome - good spirited and playful with its own "exoticness." Love the Velvets-y guitar outro too. Really nice pick.

A was very basic, but it was pretty and had a faux naif quality that drew me in and rather charmed me. It didn't need to be as long as it was, but I won't hold that against it.
B is fine, but not something that particularly stands out, for me anyway.

Going with the warm, ethereal nature of the first track over standard Misfits..Vote A

Erm...I wouldn't expect them to sign in another language, of course - unless they decided to go with English (like Shonen Knife sometimes do). It's just that I don't like the sound of the Japanese language when it's sung. That's all. It's an inexplicable, deep-rooted thing. Sorry. Bit like when people say Italian is the best language for opera. Bit of a cliche, maybe. But it's probably true. Those quivering high notes, the ballsy baritones - they don't quite have the same impact in English. Some people here have a natural aversion to French pop. Not me, by the way. But have you ever heard German RAP? fuck me that's BAD like you've never ever experienced. Trust me.

I realized you were joking a bit. I was, too. This is the song that introduced me to Japanese underground music - quite lovely:
Not everything is for everyone.

i feel a bit sorry for A, as their new selection is not as good as their original pick. musically it's OK, but like JC, i find the japanese voice grating.
the misfits track is OK, so a reprieve for B.

I think I'd like the Danzig better if Glenn were singing in Japanese.

A is a pretty melody, but does it need to be almost 7 minutes long...? I lived in Tokyo for 5 years so have a liking and high tolerance for J-pop and Japanese rock, so i can enjoy this tune nicely, despite the slightly inane lyrics about leaving a tired horse, grabbing a flute and not knowing what to do, etc... though to be fair most lyrics are naff . While i'm not much of a fan of Danzig's overall career, this one has a bunch of energy and a touch of psychobilly thanks to that riff and GD's vocals. B takes it for me. B

They're just riding the waves on the Love Beach, man... Are the lyrics haiku?
