More Neil, fuck me...
A is played out but I'm not voting for Young again.

Sorry Neil, I like your old cars and most of your tunes but you didn't have a chance.

Going with Neil not released at the time doesn't count as straying from the canon!
Fortunately for B, that's a good song that I'm not burned out on, and I am incredibly burned out on A, which is a perfectly fine song too, but one I've heard roughly 4,875 times on oldies radio.
It wasn't that big of a hit, was it? Yet it gets played more than most #1 hits I can think of.

That's a pretty weak NY selection. Even in his slowest, barest moments there's usually a strong melody to make it all worthwhile. Not here. This just sounds like he's mumbling while driving his Oldsmobile.
A is pretty standard stuff but still an easy win here (and I've never even heard of the ARTIST, let alone heard the song before!)

The happier you fly, the sadder you fall.
I think the Young song is beautiful and moving.

That's pretty weak Neil, melodically speaking, but I'll take it over that Viagra ad of a song.

I like A, the choppy/summery guitar is lovely, and gives a real burst of life to a type of song I normally find lacking. Is that glockenspiel in there, too? And possibly the clumsiest key-change in soul history? Just adds to the charm. Never heard it before in my life, either.
I'm not sure why I'm even listening to B, I'm very unlikely to vote for it. Though that might be harsh, it's at least one of his acoustic things rather than a clunky bit of rockin'. Quite pleasant indeed, actually. If this was a pick a reasonable song by a major artist you're not really that fussed about cup, I could've voted for this.

Not familiar with either track..The NY is basic and actually pleasant..The JJ track has some interesting things going on (The Choppy guitar and whatever those chime sounds are)..Going with pleasant, oddly enough..Vote B

I like the JJ track, even though it's a little too derivative to get too excited by. But the choppy guitar lick does elevate it. What a lifeless trudge B was. Neil Young has long been the "classic rocker it's okay to pick" in the cups, every year we get two or three tracks. There was an odd sound accompanying the guitar throughout this track, it was the barrell being scraped.

I don't really listen to oldie stations and I don't really know this Neil record, so this is a pretty great tie.
B by the narrowest of margins.

Never heard either before. Neil's song, even if it had been recorded with a band, wouldn't make for a nice filler in any of the records of the era.
A is fantastic on any level. A song to keep.
