B by virtue of being really good. I like the Elevators but think they have recently reached the peak of Mount Overrated in a pretty big way. the I&T is maybe my favorite track on that pretty good album. I think it's tighter than yoga pants.

Excellent stuff!
The Elevators please me with every single note. This one's hard to ignore anyway 'cos of Roky's especially pleading tone, and the serious weirdness (yes - even by their exalted standards) of the arrangement (if you can call it that)
And 'Contact High'! first heard this on an Aquarium Drunkard playlist I downloaded in the early iPod days, and fucking loved it. And still do.
It has to go to
B

B is a pretty silly song, but it 'rocks,' I guess. And Tina sure sings it like she means it. A is great too, but for our standards here it might as well be canon. (Plus the Them version is better.)

A is a strange choice because LIKE DAVE says the them version is better. i'd even take the chocolate watchband version over this. a missed opportunity as a better elevators pick would certainly have reeled in the voters.
some nice guitar on B. ike and tina turner have proven to be a winning formula this year.

A is pretty good once Roky shuts the fuck up. This version clearly shows his limitations as a singer. And B, while being not much as a song, is a great sample of both Ike and Tina abilities.

Both okay but not great. A is a decent version and Roky's cracked vocals suit the song, but they're better when they're wilder and let loose. It feels like they are a bit constrained having to do Dylan. B is a curio in that it's arguably closer to garage punk than their usual full on soul. In truth it could have done with more meat on the sound as it doesn't seem to take off in the explosive way it's hoping for, although TT does her best to really inject some feverish energy into the track.
Close, I'm going B

The Chocolate Watch Band better? Please. This is a fab version that brings a lovely stoned vibe to the classic, great guitar. Ike and Tina are great of course, but this seems a lazy pick here.

My thoughts exactly. Not a fan of the Elevators at all, and not much of a fan of Tina Turner either! But went for B.

Both uninspiring safe picks for the crowd. It's a shame about the vocal, without it A would be much better, I don't think they'd even need to credit Bob if they'd have been any more strung out, and kept it instrumental. There's a nice vibe to it, you just think they could have developed where they were going more, could've been a bit longer for me. But nice.
Picking Ike and Tina is really a desperation shot for the title, I wonder how often they crossed Nutbush City Limits off their list? Having said that, I don't hear much of a song here. It feels like it's limbering up for a sprint, then decides it can't be arsed and goes outside for a fag instead. Aimless.

There are several better versions of A and even if there weren’t? It’s not very good and it drags on. B is one of the slightest Ike & Tina songs I’ve ever heard but it’s harmless and goes away quickly.

A’s heart had to sink when they saw they were up against Ike & Tina.

Despite B being a clear bandwagon jumper, it's better than A's cover version. Which seems a weird choice for the finals.

Never rated this band, heard very little as a consequence. This sounded dreadful at first, but as my ears got used to it, I found the swirly instrumentation – well the guitar work, rather affecting. The vocals aren't much, agreed (although he sounds better in the coda), but it's Dylan we're comparing it to (I'm unfamiliar with all the cover versions mentioned above, and I'm happy to keep it that way). I just listened to it again, and concentrated on the backing. It's a great sound.
I said it before in this cup when another late I&T pick was featured, but - Nutbush City Limits aside - the essence of I&T for me are the pre-Spector sides (the Philles stuff that actualy features Ike, rather than the Wrecking Crew and Tina, is OK, no more). Ike started to hit the coke (and Tina ,apparently) in a big way, and lost his soul and R&B edge. It's a long way down from Rocket 88. This track strikes me as perfunctory and undistinguished. Even Tina sounds like she's phoning it in.
A, surprisingly, and by a distance
