Well, they're broad and flat and made out of flour and egg... That's called pasta not noodles!

I had no idea Americans called pasta noodles before today. I thought Harv was trying to be funny! It seems bizarre to me, why would you mix up Italian and Chinese food like that.

If you are in a heavy Italian area, in the US, all pasta can be called macaroni, and sauce, gravy. Depends on the region of Italy one originally emigrated from North, South, Sicily, then where in the US they landed: East Coast (the heaviest US Italian concentration, Midwest or West). You can also use this as a metric for the best everyday pizza in the US.

Noodles, macaroni, pasta, etc., they are all generic terms. It might be the Asian presence and provenance is greater in the UK than that region of Canada /US. Noodle is after all a German word.

Spaghetti is fucking noodles you weirdos. So are fuckin lasagnas. How can they be? They look and taste different. You wouldn't order spaghetti to go with sweet and sour pork. It's like calling duck chicken and then calling chicken something. There's no rhyme or reason to it I tells ya!

The only difference I can see is that spaghetti is packed straight where noodles tend to be wiggly. I really have no idea how SHEET pasta can be called 'noodles' tho', even taking into account regional variations. It's perverse!

They may have a vague resemblance but are made from different ingredients and don’t have the same taste or texture.

Spaghetti and noodles are exactly the same thing. The only difference I can see is that spaghetti is packed straight where noodles tend to be wiggly. I can't believe I'm having to argue this, but that is absolutely untrue. Spaghetti is made of milled wheat and flour whereas noodles are made out of flour, eggs, and waterSo they have different ingredients, different textures and different tastes. Spaghetti has a wheatier taste and is more chewy. Noodles are much softer in texture with an almost creamy taste. I really shouldn't have to explain this. What next? Sourdough and brioche are exactly the same because they're both forms of baking using flour?
