Okay. I was late to the party with this show... but wow. One of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. An absolutely staggering work of art.
Any fans?

If you’ve still got the last season ahead to watch, be prepared for it to get even deeper and darker.
I really can’t stop thinking about it.

I’m so glad you brought it up. We’re about 6 into season 6 now. The satire is brilliant but what’s really mind -blowing is how “human” this funny animal cartoon is managing to be. So many highlights: Todd’s apology from his step-father. Princess Caroline’s feverish multi-tasking going unnoticed. The events leading to Bojack leaving rehab..Mr. Peanut Butter’s apology arrangement with pickles..
I might blow my weekend by barging through the rest. I guess I was waiting until I was in the mood. I guess I am. Here’s the thing. You want Bojack to like himself. You can see why he doesn’t but I’m really hoping that eventually he does.

The vocal talents are outstanding. It’s fun looking through the end credits to put names to voices that you recognize.

It’s all so incredibly rich. At first it seems like any modern animated show - the usual pop culture references and the usual irreverent tone - but then all of the humanity of these characters begins to accumulate.
I just can’t stop thinking about it.
There’s so much happening on this show. A truly insightful take on trauma (especially generational trauma), depression - even a much more interesting meditation on ‘cancel culture’ than we’ve ever had here. It’s a complex world, and it isn’t readily apparent exactly where Bojack crosses lines into truly unforgivable behavior, and where he’s misunderstood.
Ultimately this show does a better job of exploring how a person moves forward after having caused damage to others than any theological sermon I’ve ever encountered. I can’t believe that I got all of that from a cartoon.

I stalled out again. I love that I honestly don't have a clue where it's going. I'll be around to cock-a-doodle doo when I've finished it.

I decided to follow a writer on Twitter. I saw her byline on an outstanding article. Her “splash” image was Princess Carolyn at her laptop with a glass of wine.
We finished the 6th season last night. I don’t want to spoil any surprises for anybody who plans to watch it. I started watching because It looked clever and edgy. I ended up getting a LOT more out of it.
It IS clever & edgy -right up to the end. I also found it deeply human in a profound & satisfying way.
If it wasn’t so fucking long I’d be watching it over from the beginning very soon.
I almost bailed for good first episode of (I think) season 4. By the end of the episode I’d changed my mind. I’m glad the phone didn’t ring during that episode or I might not have.
I’m with Davey. It’s one of my favorite things I’ve seen on television.

Just watched the first episode and laughed a lot. I love that the editor at Penguin Books is an actual penguin. Interested in seeing where it goes, but I can already see limitless potential complexities in the characters. My wife of course loves that one of the main characters is a cat named Princess Carolyn who lives in Silverlake.

We've just started the final season. Wow.
I think the greatest accomplishment of the show is that you end up sympathetic towards everybody, even the characters that do some really hateful stuff.
Bojack is such a great anti-hero because even at his best, he can be incredibly self-serving, and even at his worst, his candor and directness is well-intentioned.
Like Snee says above, I'm totally rooting for him to find a way to like himself. I hope he manages it.
