Same deal as before, although I hope a little bit easier this time. Twenty pictures of moderately well-known (to me at any rate) people. Who are they? I'm going to lock the thread until Friday so everyone who wants to can have a go - PLEASE PM ME WITH ANY ANSWERS. Then I'll open it up and give clues about any not got. Six Brits, 11 or 12 Americans, one Belgian, four multiple murderers, two writers, one person I've met, two with the same surname, three visual artists and one Beatles, one VU, one Springsteen and one Clash connection. 1 2 3 4 5 The one on the right of the picture, please 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 The one with the pipe 15 16 17 18 19 20

So far I heard from fonz, skope, G, LJO and dayodead, and between them they've pretty much cracked it
Fonz had 1 Carlo Gambino x
4 Greavsie 5 Larry Parnes x
6 Cheever? x
12 Ed Kemper 15 I want it to be Howard Hughes, but it probably isn’t. 16 'Lucky' Luciano 17 Jonas Salk
20 Billy Name ( random Factory dude)?
5 right
skope's selections 3- helen shapiro 4- jimmy greaves (too easy, ray) 5- tony hall 7- djano reinhardt 8- janie jones 9- dickie bird ? or maybe jack taylor (the referee)? x 19- jackie pallo 20- bowie? (hairline looks too receded THO) x Six right
G picked
4 Jimmy Greaves
8 Janie Jones 9 is Bela Lugosi x
10 Charles Starkweather 11 looks like Gary Snyder. Four right
Little Jimmy Osmond went for I know number 2 and it's driving me mad already trying to remember
3 Helen Shapiro 4 is it greavsie? 11 is Matthew sooty guy (Matthew Corbet) X 12 I know he is a serial killer and I cant remember his name! Is 13 Norman Rockwell? I don't know what he looks like. Three right
And dayodead
1 Clyde Barrow
12- Edmund Kemper, the co-ed killer..Part of the inspiration for 'Buffalo Bill' in Silence of the Lambs (Along with Gein) 14- looks like Actor Frank Overton, but it's probably not...Most likely a deadly killer..lol...Clue needed..In fact, clues needed for the rest..Some look familiar, but I'm not sure... 16 Charles "Lucky" Luciano 17- Jonas Salk (Pretty sure)
Four right
Which leaves 2, 6, 9, 14, 15 and 18 2 is a living American writer with some best-selling children's books to his name 6 is a dead American writer of pulp fiction Micky Spillane, got by dayodead
9 was a British TV regular from the 50s through to the Eighties 14 was shot dead in the 1960s. Your attention is also drawn to the clues in the first post George Lincoln Rockwell, got by dayodead
15 is a Northern European who suffered from writer's block for the last three decades of his long life Sibelius got by fonz
and 18 has a reputation for violence Sam Peckinpah, got by DF just before fonz

i'm not a fan of the locking of the thread format, ray.
i find it a pain pm'ing answers and then having to wait to see how others have done.

Starkweather was on the top of my tongue, but that pic makes him look like a film star.

Starkweather was on the top of my tongue, but that pic makes him look like a film star. He had a real James Dean fixation. That's what gave it away for me.

Yeah, I quite like this format. It certainly solves the annoyance of a couple of posters getting all the answers before you've even had the chance to open the thread.
