You're only saying that cos you know Ray will back you up! but TC was more one-note than Yarwood, Forsyth, any of them. Show him to anyone under 40 today and you won't even get a smile. Amazing final moment THO TC always makes me laugh. Some people are just innately funny to the point where it’s as natural as breathing.

I was there for the launch in the 1950s. Don't remember what the first programme was, but the first commercial was for toothpaste - Gibbs SR, I think. My mum loved it, because it was far more about entertainment, US shows and dumbassery than the still-stuffy BBC (and once Corrie started in 1961 that really cemented it - she came to love soaps, and in the end watched nothing else, although having Alzheimers made tham difficult to follow) and dad went along with her, as always - he was a really easy-going guy.
