Both sound like they're tuning up for half of their songs. A finally kicks into gear so it gets my vote. I did have to look at the year, '72, which surprised me. It sounds like it would have been made a few years before. Maybe they were tuning up for three or four years before they recorded it.

Wow! More music that sounds like something I’ve heard while peeing through a catheter under sedation. Don’t knock it til’ you’ve tried it. B

the prelude track started off promisingly but went on too long. still, there was enough there to make me want to discover more.
i didn't mind the popul vuh pick. quite atmospheric just not enough substance.

For me the strongest tie of the round. I really like both of these. Initially I had A down as pleasant but a bit generic, but a couple of plays and the track has really got its hooks in me. It's essentially British folk goes West Coast, like a British equivalent of Wendy and Bonnie. Lovely mid section with its subtle changes of tempo and colourisation. Excellent!
B is like looking at a Japanese garden, there's not much there but it somehow all adds up to have a remarkably serene effect on you. I really like some of the instrumentation such as that Japanese instrument I always forget the name of ( it's used in Boychild too).
This is quite close, but A feels like something I'd return to more regularly.

A is some kind of Perhacs meets Pentangle thing; lovely in the folkier sections, kind of annoying in the harmonies and rockier bit.
The Popol Vuh is pleasant, without ever really threatening to do something interesting. Almost new-age, you could expect to hear it in the water features section of the local garden centre.
A, because it's a more obscure pick.

Popol Vuh are the most dreary musical collective ever to exist.
It's
A
by default (and it was kind of pleasant)

A was nice, but the lyrics are a bit flakey (dig that foam!).
It doesn't matter, though, 'cause B was a bit of a nothing. I barely noticed its existence as it was playing.
I'll go with the nautical theme for this tie.

It has to be B, from a particularly bright musical collective.

This has been an enjoyable pairing, i like the match-up a lot. A is very pretty, and while some of the rhymes in the middle section made me go 'ugh' i liked and listened to it all the way through. I don't love everything PV did, but this album and track are both very fine, and tbh a very brave pick; while it's more familiar to me, it still feels nice and fresh and keeps its nose in front in this tie.

Both really good but fatally flawed.
A is a nice discovery. I'm listening to some other stuff from them. The track itself is a rather odd choice as it was way overlong. I'm hearing much shorter things by them that sound much more impressive.
I was about to vote for B until it got to that one annoying part that for some reason they decided to turn into the main theme. I like them but that took me out of the moment.

I have a Prelude anthology including their 4 albums and 2 non-album singles. Their version of After The Goldrush is on dozens of UK psych or folk samplers.
But said sampler sadly omitted this, their very first single. So it was new to me and I really enjoyed it, lyrical clumsiness notwithstanding.
Popol Vuh was nice enough, lovely even, but no contest.
Excellent pick, A!

As others have said, the best tie so far. Nearly into Prog territory.
