Pantherman. More like Panthershit. Prince's experimental musical farts are better than the dump that is A.

Panther shit? I like it! Panther Hair-Ball at the very worst. Still, I’ll give this one to the Artist currently known as Prince. I like that “Batman” Record more or less, especially the really “black album” sounding stuff. Make mine B

The entirety of the Purple One's catalog to choose from and the needle drops on the Batman soundtrack ? Nah, going with the odd duck, proto punk of Pantherman..Vote A

i'm a big fan of the pantherman track. i discovered it after going on a junk shop glam kick a few years back.
i admire rather than enjoy prince. the selected pick is pretty weak by his standards.

Pantherman are an odd mix of threatening proto-punk verses ( a good thing) and sub Rainbow pomp rock chorus ( a very bad thing indeed). It was a diverting enough curio I guess. B is a disappointing selection, little more than a rhythm track and frankly just a bit dull. Surely there had to be better obscure Prince tracks than this?

I’m not quite there with Prince. Pantherman has a great sleeve, like an Adam West costume. 1974? Very cool

That Pantherman track is awful, sounds like some second rate Hawkwind trying to jump on the glam bandwagon a couple of years too late. Good sleeve though.
And I guess my dislike of Prince is already well known, such a dead, flat aesthetic to everything he does. Not much of a song here, but it wins the tie just because of the Kraftwerkian backing synth that occasionally floats to the top.

Did the Electric 6 base their entire career around that Pantherman tune?? It's pretty great!
That Prince track has got to be one of the weakest tunes I've ever heard by him. No melody, barely any chorus and a plodding monotone backing track. A total purple nurple.

Well, A made me laugh which is something at least. Ah, the Dutch sense of humour.
I quite liked the slick sparseness of the Prince track, personally. Not his best but enough to vote for.

I can't decide how much I actually like A, but he does seem like quite the character, which is enhanced by his being a Dutch guy named Frank. B is good for what it is, but as others have said, Prince has a gigantic repertoire to choose from. Why that of all things? Just going for obscure?

(rofl) LOL, Ray is just taking the piss matching these 2 up together. (it's ok, i know you didn't do it on purpose, i'm just kidding Ray ) Well, i'm loving both here. Again, both show a certain individuality to me, a bit of a personal choice thing. This Purple one's album is a bit unfairly maligned, and the Pantherman is hilariously OTT. Maybe B by a, err, whisker.

Nice pairing, as the tracks are quite comparable.
I like the story behind the Pantherman:
www.frankklunhaar.nl/pantherman.htmIt's throwaway, off course, but I love the riff (and the «I'll show you my cloughs» ) and think it's great for what it is!
A throwaway track from Prince can't be great, it just seems lazy.
