'Strange Things Are Happening' is a cover of the Outsiders song, isn't it? or is their song a cover?
Anyway it's not good enough to beat the RftT track, which is fucking mighty (although the original is much better - think this is a 90s versh)

B is great in its way, but I sure don't need 7 minutes of it.
A is fantastic, the discovery of the cup for me. Great arrangement, great vocal blend...so much damned variation in just over 2 minutes. By god, this is fantastic! (A quick Google suggests they're Canadian - I can only find one other track, and it's nowhere near as good. Viva the one-off!)

it's a guitar strangling SHOWDOWN!!! A doesn't start with the stranglin' until rather late into the track so this goes to B

This 2004 version of Tokyo adds enough pyrotechnics to the template of the Pere Ubu original recording to be interesting..As for the first track, guess I'm not "Swinging" enough to dig it..Kinda boring...Vote B

i absolutely love the 'rings and things' song. it could have appeared on the soundtrack of the grooviest swinging 60s film. it's a pity it has been drawn against RffT because there is only one way this tie will go. i do hope it will get a little bit more love throughout the voting but i've a feeling it will be a lamb to the slaughter.
nothing against the RffT track, in fact it's better than most picks in this round, just not this one.

'Strange Things Are Happening' is a cover of the Outsiders song, isn't it? or is their song a cover? two completely different songs. this is superior to the outsiders song, which is one of their weakest.

A is quite snappy. If B was the 75 Ubu version, I would have picked it.

Before I listened to these, I was extremely leaning to B.
After I listened.

Good match. A is an interesting and enjoyable curio, great sound. B is long but still really engaging, also with a great sound. Maybe B by a nose.

I loved A, it sounded like The Shangri Las on acid. Great " throw everything and the kitchen sink" production style. B was quite boring. Surprised it's doing so well in this tie to be honest, but I think sometimes people vote for the name.

Dunno if it's my headphones, but B sounds quite muddy because of the bass. The girl-group blandness of the opening was really off-putting, but then it went in a more interesting direction, kinda The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and the Mamas and Papas. Interesting obscurity, I guess.
Seems strange to go to the effort to shoe-horn 30 Seconds Over Tokyo under R, when you could've picked the superior proper Pere Ubu track in the first round, which is a wonderful thing in its proto-Chrome oddness. It's disappointing in comparison, and for that reason I'm going to have to vote with the more interesting choice of

B managed to be alternately interesting and irritating along its very looooong seven minutes. In other matches I could have voted for it, but not here. As hatz said A features so many things inside its short timing that it's a real discovery. Funny that previous posters have recalled Shangri-las, Arthur Brown and Mamas & Papas, me I thought about Fifth Dimension, and all of them recalls make sense.
