Yeah, that really works! I like the way they've approached it as a kind of low-key, mood piece rather than thundering through it. Very cool.
This isn't meant to denigrate or anything but I do wonder if this kind of style would be remotely interesting to people today if it weren't for Tarantino. Mind you, it's well over a quarter-century now since Pulp Fiction, so maybe that's not relevant.

Yeah, I think the surf rock style will always be a sub-genre that has a small yet lasting appeal. Things will pop up every once in a while to bring it back out into the broader consciousness, just as you mention with Tarantino, introducing it to younger music lovers and keeping that small yet fervent fan group strong.

Surf rock is almost never wrong. Maybe because it usually has no vocals. Or because technologically it stopped in 1965, so there can't be any bad production choices.
I like this clip, of them in their living room. It's very safe and comfortable. Probably sounds good there too, with the wall-to-wall carpeting and non-parallel walls!
