B is quite typical of the kind of hip and rhythmic thing we're getting in these recent cups. It's OK but it's not going to win any medals, is it?
A is just totally terrific

Have always loved A - particularly the cutting Ferry imitation - though it's a bit on the obvious side.
B is not something I could ever see listening to for pleasure.

I tend to prefer Ambient Eno to song Eno. This is okay, there's some nice musical elements, but ultimately a little dull and the air of 'cleverness'that hangs over the whole thing is a little off-putting. All a bit too constrained and English repressed for its own good. B's brutal rhythms are a little rote, but the urgent attack of the voice really lifts it. It's got something and is sounding like the fresher selection for me here.

I have many problems with Eno, his vocals are atrocious, and the mannered posho bits which are presumably supposed to be funny are supremely irritating. For a renowned producer, I never like the sound of his own records, either. The drums are very crisp though. I seem to be praising drums in bad records a lot. I don't like throwing accusations of pretension around, but this is very art-school bollocks; silly voices, pissing about, it's a shit Python sketch approach to music and it annoys the crap out of me.
I've mentioned a few times that the music coming from the Nyege Nyege Tapes label is currently the most exciting thing happening in music. This is from Nyege's more dance-oriented sub-label Hakuna Kulala, and is in fact a fairly radical rework of the source material, by Ekhe, a Leeds-based DJ. It's all about that throbbing underbass and pounding percussion, reminiscent of Underworld at their peak, and that vocal performance which matches the impact of the beats step by step. It's a beautiful thing, innit? Takes no prisoners.
B obviously.

A B is the sort of thing that doesn't translate to us stupid Americans.

It's a beautiful thing, innit? I looked up the meaning of "beautiful" just to check if I had learned it wrong. Apparently not. Call me old fashioned but I have the notion that music means something that can be written on a stave according to some well established convention. It looks like other people think differently. A

Not taking the piss or anything, but that is old-fashioned, isn't it? That's not a viable definition of music.

Nah, I know these are boundaries that can be trespassed, and I can accept that. Simply I found that track very unpleasant.

B is the sort of thing that doesn't translate to us stupid Americans. ditto-a-mundo. it's hard to put aside all my youthful "better than the Beatles" enthusiasm for Eno's rock albums. leave me alone with my Dated Rock and my Hydrox cookies! slip the check under the door! this is a vote fo r A

Going with the sense of chaos from the second track..simply more immediate..Nothing against the Eno song, though..Vote B

I love that album, and eventhough A isn't a personal fave it's still great, especially the 2nd half. B though is very much up my alley; the deep echoey vocals with hints of dub, the dancey electronic rhythms that not many Preludins love but i do, plus piquing my interest in the originals.
