B - there’s little I like more than rocksteady era reggae

What kind of complete cock would pick an Ulver track for the preludin cup? Bergtatt is easily their best album I've heard, their melodic take on black metal is pretty damned influential, and obviously influential to the likes of Alcest (whose Souvenirs d'un autre monde is a masterpiece of beautiful shoegaze/black-metal crossover). I think the intro folky bit is a bit clunky, to be fair, but the way the track signs off is nothing short of majestic.
And B is a decent pick, too. I'm much more of a ska man than rocksteady or reggae, for reasons I don't really understand, but this is playful enough, if marred by the annoying way he keeps yelping over the top. Underneath it's a lovely bit of floating hazy nostalgia, but too far to the forefront is all that hollerin.

Yeah, B background is nice, pity that annoying guy shouting upfront had not been hired by Ulver, I think he would fit there nicely.

Both are good. A took a surprising turn. I like surprises.

A is...something. It honestly sounds like three different bands playing in the studio at the same time, and then poorly edited together. And the 'death metal' part sounds rather cartoonish. It's OK, Thor, mommy's fixing your dinner...
Not sure how much B stands out from similar stuff, but it's a genre I like, and since I haven't heard enough of it to hit the 'burnout' point with it...

Hello fellow cock.
In hindsight, something from Kveldssanger may have picked up some of the folkies' interest on here. It would still have lost of course.

I was actually going to go with round G for my 'rock' track, either Gnaw Their Tongues or The Goslings, so everyone should be thankful for Ulver, really.

A began prettily but all too briefly before plunging into "not my thing". I don't have a great deal to say about B (along with everyone else it seems). One of those tracks that is likeable without being in any way interesting or even memorable.

I like hard rock, but those growly metal vocals will always be a problem for me. Brave pick, A, but it's just not my thing. B is very sweet and makes me smile.

I hate the production of B, with the ugly yelps really mixed to the fore... had it been something from the seventies, I don't know.
As it is: A, surprisingly.
