Well, we've done well to last this long without getting to a novelty track, unless you count that stupid Devil is Dope track from the previous round. Feels like something by that Jack Black band, what were they called? I hope there's no Dave Grohl sneaking into this cup. I guess there are people who like this kind of countrified rock thing. I do not count myself among that number.
I thought this could've been some smart-arse art project were everything is played backwards, but sadly not. Hmm, chamber-pop of some kind, I do hope this isn't a pseudo-classical cover of some rock tune I don't recognise. The Flowers of Hell do/did this kind of thing in a more Brit-indie way, and I feel that was more successful, this feels kinda elevator music. Doesn't have the complexity or depth of good post-rock, it just doesn't quite work for me.
I might come back to this round.

A may indeed be a novelty number, but it's clever and musical on top of being a great concept - a heroic ballad featuring a guitar duel between a real Slash and a fake one. Maybe being that it takes place in a world that I'm quite familiar with, I find it ripe for parody, and relate well to where they go with it. It's not for everyone, I guess, but I love it.
B is also "not for everyone," and unlike A, which has a very clear theme, I'm not even sure what they're going for. The string quartet with 'rock attitude' has surely been done before (and like D_F, I'm wondering if it's actually a "clever" cover of something I don't recognize) and all the preening and glaring in the world can't make up for the fact that it's pretty standard musically whatever standards you care to apply.

There is a certain Warren Zevon feel about A but with really poor quality as a song. Maybe the lyrics are funny but didn't pay attention and don't think it's worth the effort.
B went immediately to the discovery file with a 'check asap' post-it.

I agree with hatz. The Slash thing actually worked, although the hoedown chanting vocal pushed its luck a bit. It creates quite a mood, I can dig it.
The other thing was like pepper in custard, just unpleasant.

I didn't really get A, was it meant to be funny? I couldn't be bothered to listen to the whole thing, sorry.
I quite enjoyed B, you could get really involved in the playing. Would probably have liked it even more without the drums, which were rather intrusive, and a bit more space in the arrangement. Easy winner here though.

I'm not averse to novelty when it's that well played
But I'm also a sucker for cellos, fiddles and violas.

B it builds, it’s got tension, it’s well played. The other one is like John Wesley Harding only with Slash. PASS-adena!

I'll be honest, i only got through 2.5 mins of A before i had to stop it. It's just not for me. I played 2.5 mins of B and thought it was ok, kind of smooth and a bit like an incidental film score, fine in its way.

I enjoyed B although,as has already been pointed out, the drums are superfluous.
I vaguely know who Slash is, from stoke on Trent originally, I believe. This isn't for me,I'm afraid.

B comes dangerously close to incidental music for news channels in places. Oh I don’t know…
