A says not available, but I'm familiar with it, and it's quite a bit better than B

I think Nina Simone is a remarkable vocalist but I'll take B. I think it runs out of gas before it's over but it sure sounds great when it's working up a head of steam at the beginning.

I've said it before, I have a problem with Nina's voice, not denying her singing, writing and playing abilities, all of them top class, but I can't stand her. And it gets worse when she shows her manierisms.
And I found B quite to my taste, although the mid part with that bass was a wrong detour.

A is beautifully sung, but its quite a middle of the road arrangement, and I prefer her when she's jazzier. B wasn't bad at all, quite rousing! Drums and guitar combined very well. Sod it...B

I really don't like Nina Simone. I admit that's a fault of my own. I've honestly tried, but it's like drinking castor oil.
Like the last couple of posters have said, the NMA track was a pleasant surprise. It sounded convincing somehow rather than silly or overblown.

i'm in agreement with oz and JC, i've always had a dislike for simone. probably the most overrated sacred cow.
not overly keen on NMA but it did take me back to my youth and wasn't as bad as i imagined it would be.

This NMA is from when they were really good. A great choice.

Nina Simone seems such a lazy pick, surely she's been stamped with the preludin mark of approval already? I'm surprised it's getting such a kicking. Great voice, great pianist, dreary bastard song which goes on forever.
New Model Army are surely the opposite of a sacred cow, I would expect this lot to be slaughtered no matter what track they picked. My brother and his missus watch this lot live at least twice a year, and I see Ed busking in Chester city centre, regularly playing rubbish space-prog-fiddle stuff. It's a bit like The Danse Society on a big budget this, or an earnest Specimen. Gash will be along to vote against it, no doubt, but I want to be part of a world where NMA are taken as seriously as Nina, so I'm voting for them.

Surprising and good match. B is better than is remember them, but A feels fresh still somehow after all these years.

Both of those links for A are unavailable to me, and I'm a lazy bastard, so in the interest of fairness I'm not going to listen to B either and toss a coin.

A for me, I've never heard NMA before and it didn't really grab my attention.

I prefer screamy Nina personally.
It's easy to forget how adept NMA were in this period. Rob Heaton's drumming was a force of nature.
