If you're going to revive a girl group song from the Sixties, best to stay way from the Crystals' (and indeed the Ronettes and Shangs') oeuvre. The guitar solo was amusing, but the band aren't the Wrecking Crew, and the vocalist isn't close to being LaLa Brooks. Would have been a whole lot better if they had applied themselves to a new pastiche, rather than showing themselves up by meh-ing a classic. I don't think that's vinyl crackle, I think that's oddly recorded percussion/handclaps. The horns are a bit naff, to my augmented ears, and the backing overall has a slightly different mood to the vocals - the former falling asleep, the latter waking up - which I quite enjoyed. It's an odd duck, but it's not bad, and I think just enough to win here.

Gore Gore Girls
A strong entry in the liabilities column of the Can Chicks Rock balance sheet. A better question might be why would they want to.
Glass Candy
Underwater nu disco, like Diana Ross drowning. It’s ok.

A makes a good cake out of very basic ingredients. One slice is enough though!
B was catchy in a bland kind of way. There are hidden depths there perhaps. It has enough to make me vote for it.
