the chris clark track is over familiar to me, but it still excites.
eaton started off promisingly and is new to me, but it began to irritate, especially the female vocals. there just wasn't enough variation on the groove.

Fine match! A is big, bright and brassy 60s soulful pop, good fun. B is a groovy 70s stew of jazz and funk; tighter than a fish's plughole, and makes me want to shake my rump.

There were some 15+ min jazz picks that felt MUCH shorter than B. Sorry, but not for me.
A is far from stellar, the voice isn't that much and it lacks a real song. Still, it's nice and straight to the point and that's enouigh to win here.

Love A, but she's become too Preludin-approved for me. The magic isn't quite there any more.
Besides, B is great! What a freaking groove! Plus it's funk, so I have to balance out Ray's vote.

Two great tracks. A is as close to garage punk as Motown got. The star of the show is assuredly (copyright JSJ) Chris Clark's "girl from the wrong side of the tracks" defiant vocal, but it is ably supported by a great farfisa riff and powerhouse beats.
B delivers some great wah wah, always a good thing in my book, and some really nice Fender Rhodes action, but it doesn't have the explosive dynamics of A

The Chris Clark track has always been a favorite of mine whereas b is just repetitive and dull. An easy choice

The still of A looks like something that Googa would start a thread on, and I'm not sure it's got much more quality. The vocal's decent enough, but that organ is as repetitive as that thing they do at ice hockey, and not as good.
B has some nice wah wah action and a really tight groove, with some good vibes ' shit floating around kinda disparately. It's a pity they felt the need to add the vocals, because they don't do anything but irritate, the track doesn't need them. Blimey though, it doesn't half hang around for too long, not exactly jam-packed full of ideas.

Don't find the vocals in the first track all that good, so need to go for the Shafty monotony of the second..Vote B

yay! today's soul funk has finally lifted! B by virtue of that - what is it? a rhodes piano? I just fuckin' love that style of playing.
the other is good too but the groove and the light fingers seal this one for me.

Chris
OH NO, NOT THIS ONE AGAIN!
Cut from the same Motown cloth as There’s a Ghost… this is the studio pros showing the garage scum who was really boss. Often with yer Nuggets wallahs there’s a hesitancy, a shambling naivety that grounds ‘em. Not here, this pops.
Cleveland
I like its groove and the swooping strings but I keep waiting for something to happen.
