ah, stereolab! i knew someone would choose them. i love them as much as the next person, but this choice is a bit uninspiring. i don't think this deeper cut has paid off for the picker.
big fan of swamp dogg and while this may be his most well-known song, it's hard not to get dragged into its majesty.

Normally Stereolab are capable of a good groove, but this one stumbles out of the blocks as the drummer seems to be playing a different song from everyone else.
Doesn't matter though - that Swamp Dogg tune is just gorgeous.

A sounds like Van Morrison fronting the Blonde on Blonde backing band and that's a very good thing. However the performance is much better than the song, which does get very melodically repetitious. Needed something to break it up a bit. B is a much better in that regard. Lots of delightful elements here from Mary Hanson's backing vocals to the woozy synth and it fair bounces along in its bossa nova played on Mars fashion. A warm and humorous tribute to the eccentric Lucia Pamela.

Seeing A always makes me happy.
I gave B a fair listen, but it was pretty much what I expected. Ah, the 90s.

A was great and a clear winner for me, not sure why he's not better known. I have a couple of Stereolab albums but they're a bit unsubstantial and I hardly ever think God I must listen to some Stereolab.

I remember a JB&S Cup on BCB where Swamp Dogg was picked two or three times. The record this track comes from is a lovely delicatessen and this is one of my fave tracks.
B is fine and probably I should give some time to Stereolab, but here it stands no chance.

Never heard of Swamp Dogg before, but there's something quite charming and warm about that track. He has a strange tone to his voice, almost like a soul Morrissey, which would be somehing to behold. Lovely little track, I guess if I'd taken part in any JB&S cups, I'd be less inclined to it. Liked that quite a lot.
Ah, Stereolab, presumably because there wasn't an opportunity to fit a Broadcast track in. Nothing wrong with this either, it's pretty much what you always expect from 'em, light, fluffy, inconsequential. Nice to hear, never nice enough to actually delve deeper.
Good tie, all things considered. Stereolab are a slightly braver choice, so I'll chuck 'em a bone.

both are just swell. I love Dogg's vocals and how, um, unique the arrangement is. still, I'm going with B. words cannot explain how pleasing I find that sweet spot retro sound that Sterolab gets. I grew up hearing "Je T'Aime" on the radio so Sterolab really seemed like one of the only aspects of a promised "Jetsons" future that actually came to be. I love 'em. one of a kind.

Another terrific match. Wish i could vote for both, as both are faves and could easily get my vote in most matches. The deeper electronic melodicism of B is really hitting me this afternoon, so with apologies to A...
